Download This

-In this exercise we will try to blend an image to a background by softening the contours and changing colors
- Start by downloading the material, save it in the D drive in M2, open it with photoshop:

- First thing we have to fix is the contour of Lara, it needs to be blended to the background.
- Select Lara's layer
- Choose the Magic wand and select the empty space around Lara
- Go to Select->Modify->Expand and set it to 2 pixels click ok.
- This way we select the contour of Lara.
- We apply a Blur filter to it.
- Go to Fiter->Blur->Gaussian Blur and set it to 1.2, click ok.

- We need to now change the color of Lara to be more orange so it looks like the light around here is affecting her color.

- Go to Image->Adjustments->Color Balance and adjust the sliders by adding some red and yellow.

- We need to give her a little more contrast
- Go to Image->Adjustments->Curve then pull the curve from the middle a little upwards you will see Lara brighter click ok

-We are going to add some back light to her as well to do that we will use a quick mask

- Press Q
- Go to the fill tool that looks like a small bucket
- Select black color and click on the screen, it will make the screen red
- Select white color and using the Brush (shortcut "B")  paint parts of Lara that we want to light up, don't forget you can resize the brush.

- I painted the contour of her arm, which looks like an erased area
- Once you are done press Q
- Go back to Image->Adjustments->Curves and move the middle of the curve up until you can see brightness coming from Lara's back arm.
-Press Ctrl+D to deselect.
- Do this all around until you think it looks good for you.

Here is the result
